I am probably the last person on Planet Earth to actually take a Spin class. When my health club started offering the class about six weeks ago I was hesitant to sign up - I've seen spin classes on TV, on the movies. They all entail some insanely fit instructor with a bullwhip and a megaphone screaming at their students to push, dig deep, DON'T YOU GIVE UP ON ME NOW, etc., etc. It intimidated me! I have enough scary voices in my head without opening myself up to another "motivational" screamer.…

I’m out of breath from my first day on Twitter. Sure, I joined it a while ago but in the usual fashion of my late adoption habits only really took a look at it on Sunday at the urging of the

As promised another update from the beautiful Silicon Valley. As I logged on today I was annoyed when I saw the monster.com add above my post. Now they are offering selection tools and strategic staff planning consulting services. I know that Career Builder has already been doing this because my client got a proposal from them for $500k to develop a complete strategy, of course with their services imbedded across the board. Who can blame them; why not get on the bandwagon, everyone else is. Here…

If you haven't already voted today, get your tuchus out there and pull a lever. Here in Washington State, we vote by mail and my voting was done weeks ago. I am really looking forward to all of the political signs, commercials, sign-wavers, et al. to go away like magic tonight... Poof! No more multi-colored signs lighting up street corners like so many gawdy-colored flowers.
Additionally - if you vote, you are able to cash in on lots of free "goodies" from different companies. Starbucks and Kri…

A combination of events has lead me to write this blog post that has been brewing in me for years. First, was the tweets from the recent ERE conference (which I did not attend.) Second, was a call I had with another Maverick, who has been in recruiting longer than the internet.
Let me first start of by saying that there are a lot of people in the industry I respect and admire and it’s not just for what they have done for the industry, but it’s also the type of people they are. Some of these peo…
